Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform Release Waves
Focused views, which was originally introduced as part of the Dynamics 365 Sales app allows viewing and managing records and their associated activities on a single page. It provides the ability to not navigate back and forth between screens.
Until now, when working on flows, you were not able to save a flow if there were any errors in it, and would have to fix all the errors before saving the flow, so if you made any changes and needed to save temporarily, you would be stuck
In the last few weeks there have been various updates to Pipelines and Solutions in the Power Platform and Power Apps as part of the 2024 Release Wave 1. In this post, I will provide an overview of these three updates and links to additional information about each of these.
In the last few days, we have seen a few updates in the Power Pages blog site that we have been waiting for. These are the creation of new Power Pages sites in Bootstrap version 5.2.2 and the Public Preview of modern lists for Power Pages. Let’s go over these updates.
Microsoft provides new and updated features for model-driven apps on a regular basis. Until recently, those feature updates were rolled out in two release waves called the semi-annual release waves, which is the default setting for all of the existing apps and environments.
As part of the 2024 Power Platform Release Wave 1, Microsoft has released (currently in Public Preview) the ability to create secured fields and mask either all or parts of the field based on regular expressions. This would allow us to show parts of the secured fields (such as the last 4 digits of a social security number) on the form without having to deal with custom scripts and not having the ability to export the full data of those fields.
In the last week or so, depending on your region, you might have encountered some changes in the way Security roles are accessed from the Power Platform Admin Center. While this seems to be available at this time in most Geographies, some of them might still be missing.
As part of the 2023 Wave 1 Release Plan, Microsoft simplified the process of connecting to external data and creating virtual tables from within the Maker portal. This process makes creating these connections very easy, and results can be seen in a manner of minutes. Configuration is now at the fingertips of citizen developers as well.
On March 8, Microsoft made an additional announcement that Cards for Power Apps can be sent automatically via flows using a new connector and an updated Teams connector. The cards authoring experience has also been improved making it easier to design cards that fit our business needs.
Last week, March 1, Microsoft announced the General Availability of Pipelines within the Power Platform, which will bring deployment automation capabilities into managed environments to better support makers, admins and developers. In this post, I will go over how to enable the managed environments within your tenant and configure Power Platform Pipelines for your deployment.
